DESCRIPTION
Designed to venture far from shore on extended passages, Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design’s explorer concept, MMX45, encompasses all the qualities of a large-scale expedition vessel in a desirable 45.4m package.
MMX45’s hull form is easily driven and efficient, making it possible to economically cross oceans with comfort. Able to achieve a top speed of 18 knots and a range of 5,000nm at her 12-knot cruising speed, she opens up a world of cruising possibilities. Active stabilisers offer exceptional on-board comfort while underway and at anchor, ensuring passenger enjoyment and confidence during long-range exploration.
MMX45 features multiple stowage areas for tenders and expedition equipment, allowing for extensive surface, subsea and onshore adventures. The elevated bridge and observation deck provide 360-degree vision and are the perfect platform for wildlife observation. The master suite also has great visibility, with forward and side-facing windows. There’s a further three cabins, allowing for an additional six guests, along with accommodation for a crew complement of five.
MMYD has seen explorer designs as an undoubtedly growing sector of the new build market, requiring energy efficient and sea-kindly long-range designs. The MMX45 draws on the wealth of MMYD’s experience designing efficient sailing yachts to produce an easily driven hull form.
Malcolm McKeon has historically designed a number of highly successful large motor yachts, and the MMX45 is the latest in a line of well-proportioned, contemporary designs.
